The album that lifted a nation in a time of crisis and inspired us all.
In the late to mid-nineties, U2 began to lose some of its following and started slipping into irrelevancy. Albums like "Pop" just didn't resonate with their fans the way "The Joshua Tree" had. By this point in time, U2 had already stayed in the public eye much longer than most bands ever had, and many were questioning if it was time for Bono and The Edge to lay down their guitars.
Then came U2's smash hit, "All That You Can't Leave Behind". I think it's safe to say that no band has ever released a more relevant album. "All That You Can't Leave Behind" hit stores a few months before the terrorist attacks of September 11th. And the music of that album single-handedly lifted the broken spirits of a nation with its message of hope. "All That You Can't Leave Behind" made U2 more than just relevant again. It propelled them to the status of "biggest band in the world" and allowed them to become political and social activists that have left an indelible mark on the globe. I think it's safe to say that no album has changed more lives than "All That You Can't Leave Behind".
