One of the all-time classic sci-fi movie franchises.

You want a classic movie?  Then Planet of the Apes is a must see. Not only does it break out with a creative story line, but it also scores major quality points on the unintentional comedy rating. Now, there are some of you that may think Planet of the Apes is ridiculously stupid. You think those that have an appreciation for the franchise rank right up there with the trekkies on the social ladder. However, you are severely misjudging the proud supporters of Apedom. Unlike those who are hardcore fans of Babylon 5 or Magic the Gathering, true Planet of the Apes enthusiasts realize how ridiculous it really is, and appreciate it that aspect of it. Face it, all the classics are like this. Nobody really takes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or The Price Is Right seriously, but it's that ability to appeal to the lighter side that makes these things so great. So before those of you "cool" people shake your head in disapproval at the borderline sci-fi computer nerd cult Planet of the Apes, please take a moment to focus and appreciate the humor that only bad actors dressed in bad monkey costumes can bring to the table. Because it is in this aspect that the beauty of the Planet of the Apes really shines. It's one of the few movies that everyone can watch and enjoy. Kids will be captivated by it. Nerds will be enthralled by it. People who are too "cool" for it will be able to laugh at all the horrible actors, costumes, and lines. Those that are too "cool" to even laugh at such nonsense will be captivated by the beauty of Nova, or the rippling pectorals of Charlton Heston.  And those of us who have our senses finely tuned to the rich aesthetic pleasures of the classics will be able to enjoy on of the finest films in history.
