Castaways try to survive the elements and each other for a million dollars.

Survivor on CBS

When Survivor became CBS's greatest hit back in 2000, I honestly didn't see the appeal. I didn't like MTV's reality series, so why would I want to watch what appeared to be The Real World: Deserted Island?  And as the rave reviews poured in about how the people on Survivor were eating rats and bugs to stay alive, I just wasn't intrigued. And so thanks to my preconceived notions about the show, I missed the entire first season of Survivor. Well once Survivor: Australia rolled around, I figured that I would at least see what all the fuss was about. After all, what's there to do after the Super Bowl?  And it didn't take me long to realize that Survivor couldn't be farther from the mind-numbing pointlessness of The Real World. This show wasn't about getting drunk and scoring with chicks. Survivor was about strategy.

I love strategy. And since that fateful post-Super Bowl episode, I've been absolutely hooked on Survivor. I've now watched every season, including the first one when they replayed it on OLN. Over the course of the show's history, I've managed to pick up on the major strategies needed to win the game. And after making mental notes on all the crafty tricks and boneheaded moves that have occurred throughout each season, I'm fairly confident that I would be able to think myself through to the final four. So as I blog my way through each episode, I'll pass along my strategic tips and take some time to crack a joke or two about some of our more intriguing contestants. Whether you're a Survivor newbie, or you were one of the first people to see Richard Hatch go nude, I hope you'll find the Survivor section of my site to be both insightful and funny.
