I personally consider the television to be the greatest invention of all time.  That sentiment might very well change the moment my life is saved by a dose of penicillin or I'm actually forced to walk twenty miles instead of hopping in the car, but until then the TV is at the top of my list.  You can argue that the computer is poised to overtake that role as it allows you to surf the internet as well as download shows, but for now, the TV reigns supreme.  Even a web-junkie like myself has to admit that there's just no matching the hours of entertainment the television provides.  In fact, when you boild it down, most of what we read on the internet is simply a rehashing of what we've already seen on TV, be it sports recaps, the news, or a site like this.

We're often met with people who criticize the TV as a waste of time or the #1 reason behind the recent epidemic of obeisity.  While those claims are certainly true to an extent, there's no denying that the television brings many benefits with it as well.  The TV allows us to follow along with events happening across the globe, it allows us to see places and experience things we would otherwise never get to.  And while shows like the Real World might single-handedly be destroying the youth of America, there are also shows out there like Lost and Heroes that are mentally stimulating and bring along a positive message.  Like any powerful object, the TV can be used for good or for bad.  Unfortunately the bad tends to be the side which gets focused on most often.  It's for this reason that DeROK.Net is proud to bring to you it's tribute to television and some of the great stories it brings into our households several times a week.  This is TV at it's absolute apex.  I hope you enjoy the show!
