This section contains my collection of Alternate Mario Bros. ROMs that are playable on within your web browser. Because of the large amount of Super Mario Bros. patches, it was necessary to divide them into two collections. This "Alternate" collection features games which do not star Mario or Luigi as the main character.
In addition, there are ROM patches for download which will allow you to play these games on your PC. Please note that no commercial Super Mario Bros. ROMs are playable on this site, only games released under the GNU/GPL License. Also, absolutely no ROM files, commercial or otherwise, are available for download, only ROM patches. These restrictions have been placed to uphold the copyrights of those who have worked hard to create these games. Despite these limitations, you can rest assured that this section still provides a high-quality and fun experience for all fans of retro-gaming and the Super Mario Bros. series.

Before playing the Alternate Mario Bros. games found on this site, please read the following notice:
All the games featured in this section may be played within your web browser by clicking the appropriate link next to "Play it Now". However, in order to achieve full functionality as well as the ability to save, you may wish to download the games onto your computer. While this process is simple, it is not straight-forward. Step by step instructions have been provided below.
1. Before downloading any files, please review our content policy.
2. In order to play the Mega Man ROMs you will need the Nintendo Emulator and the IPS Patcher program. Download links are directly below.
Nintendo Emulator: Nester (Recommended) or NESticle
IPS Patcher: Lunar IPS
3. Download the corresponding ROM patch for the game you wish to play. These are found below, after the description of each game.
4. You will need to follow the steps contained in the instructions manual to apply the ROM patch and create a playable game.

They were brought to the Mushroom Kingdom by an unknown power to rescue the princess after Mario and Luigi suddenly vanished. In order to get back to their world, they have to rescue the princess no matter what. This hack is not overly difficult and the levels have been designed well.You also start with 50 lives. So if you're in the mood, help Justin and Tim get back to earth…

Kirby's Adventure 2

One evening, Kirby had a strange dream. He had a dream of a long, long stairway leading up to a door. As soon as the door opened, he was confronted with a world he had never seen before, spreading out as far as his eyes could see. When he strained his ears to listen, he heard a faint voice saying “Welcome to the land of dreams. We have been cursed by Nightmare. He stole the Dream Rod and cast a completely evil spell. We have been awaiting your arrival. Please defeat Nightmare and return the land of dreams to its natural state. Nightmare has placed Metaknight under his control, to guard the Dream Rod. Be wary Kirby!” Kirby must now gain the Dream Rod and break the curse!

Mario in Zebes

This is a recreation of the old-time favorite Super Mario Bros. game for the NES. Mario has been abducted by Cyber-Ridley and taken to Zebes, and Samus’ mission is to save Mario so he can go back to the Mushroom Kingdom to save the Princess. Every level and almost all graphics have been altered from the original game. The fireball movement has been changed as well!

This version of Super Mario Bros.contains new music, new graphics, conveyor belts, new lead character animations and upside down pipes/piranha plants. It features 16 original levels which fully utilize these cool new features. The story tells how Toad came to posses all those useful items in Super Mario Bros. 3. In this game, you search for those valuable warp flutes. Yes, it's true that Toad doesn't actually give you those flutes in Super Mario Bros. 3. So just pretend that he finds them and intends on giving them to Mario, but then trips on a Goomba and drops the flutes which subsequently get stolen by Bowser's henchmen.
