A team that's historically lacked luck, but always has lots of heart.

New Orleans Saints

Before the 2004 NFL Season, I have decided to take an up and coming team from each conference under my wing and follow them on their quest toward a playoff berth. The New Orleans Saints were my NFC team in that year. While things didn't turn out as I expected, I enjoyed following the team and decided to continue writing pieces about them. Below you will find some articles that I have written describing my journey with the New Orleans Saints.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS CHAPEL ARCHIVES

New Orleans Saints Chapel 2007 Archive

I think it's safe to say that every Saints fan feels that it's way too early for this New Orleans team to go back to their disappointing ways. Last season's unprecedented run to the NFC title game left Drew Brees and the Saints nation, wanting a whole lot more. The good news for them is that there's no reason why their success shouldn't continue as the core of the team is returning and the NFC remains as wide-open as ever. Could 2007 be the year that New Orleans gets to experience its first Super Bowl?  Saints fans, as well as an entire nation sure hope it is!

Before he even stepped foot on an NFL field, Reggie Bush did more to uplift the spirit of the Gulf Coast than any other athlete. And when he finally did get on the turf of the Super Dome, New Orleans became euphoric. Thanks to Reggie and Chargers' cast-away Drew Brees, the Saints were able to stage a come-out-of-nowhere run that captured the heart of America. Although they eventually succumbed to the Bears in the NFC Championship game, the Saints won the respect of millions and proved what incredible things can happen if you only believe.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina's devastation, the New Orleans Saints were forced to pick up the pieces and carry on with the 2005 NFL Season. Although they faced a multitude of inconveniences and struggled all year long, the Saints played valiantly and help uplift the entire Gulf Coast region.

In 2004, The New Orleans Saints were my NFC playoff sleeper pick. Notorious for having the talent to succeed but never doing so, I felt that it was the year that the Saints would turn things around. While I might have been wrong, the Saints at least made things interesting by having their playoff hopes go down to the wire.
