Nintendo (NES) Instructions:
Creating playable games from the Hacked ROM files on this site requires the following tools:
(Please refer to our content policy before downloading any materials.)
1. Nintendo Emulator: Nester (Recommended) or NESticle
2. IPS Patcher: Lunar IPS
3. NES ROM Hack IPS File: Found Here
4. Corresponding ROM File: Not found on this site. Refer to our FAQ's section regarding these.
Steps:
***PRIORITY***: Make a copy of your original ROM file. These steps will permanently and irreversibly change your ROM.
Step 1:
If necessary, unzip the contents of your ROM Hack folder.
View any "readme" files attached.
Step 2a: (Metroid Deluxe and Zelda 2 Challenge go to Step 2b)
Unzip the contents of the Lunar IPS folder.
View the "readme" file.
Click on the Lunar IPS icon to run the program.
Click the "Apply IPS Patch" Button.
Select the Hacked ROM file, and click "Open"
Select the corresponding ROM file, and click "Open"
Click "OK" once it says "The File was Patched Successfully"
Step 2b: (Metroid Deluxe and Zelda 2 Challenge only)
These games do not use Lunar IPS, as the file will automatically patch itself.
Make sure the Hacked ROM file and original ROM file are in the same folder.
Click on the Hacked ROM file to open the self-patcher.
Enter the file name of the original ROM, if not already present, in the "File to patch" area,
Click the "Patch" button.
Close the Program.
Step 3:
Unzip the contents of your emulator folder.
View the "readme" file, if present.
Open your NES Emulator program.
Select File, then Open ROM
Select the original ROM file, as it has now been modified.
Begin playing.
Note: If it is your first time using Nester, you may have to set the controls. Do this by going to Options, then Controllers, then click on the keys you wish to represent each button.
