Episode 8 Elimination: Brad
Wow. Where do we start with this one. Things had been getting a little slow on the Cook Islands, and the twist in Episode 8 turned that all around. Once again, here's three observations...
1. White People are Sneaky. Throughout this "racial experiment" one thing has been becoming clearer and clearer: White people are not to be trusted. I think Survivor has answered the
|
| question as to why the majority of the world's resources are under control of Caucasians. And I can say this being white - in general, they are a far more devious group of people. Look at Black, Latino, and Asian culture. It's all centered around the community. Not so with the white folk. It's every man for himself. They'll slit the throat of whoever they have to in order to get ahead. Thank goodness I've converted to Latino-ism.
So it was hardly a shock to me when Candice, and then Jonathan decided to take Jeff Probst up on his offer to "mutiny" and switch tribes. It was a surprising move that effectively destroyed the mighty Team CaucAsian and put the remaining Aitu members in a 4-8 hole. However, the joke was on the traitors as a now extremely PO'ed Ozzy and Yul lead their tribe to consecutive reward and immunity challenge victories. Oh, and it also destroyed any chance that either Candice or Jonathan have of winning the game, provided they don't go up against each other, because...
2. The Jury is up to Ten. Big time twist here. When Raro decided to vote out Brad over Jonathan, I thought it was a great idea. After all, Brad would feel extremely betrayed and is almost guaranteed to hold a grudge, where as Jonathan can't really complain if he gets the axe. So it made perfect sense to oust Brad before the jury would be formed with the final nine. So when Probst dropped the bombshell that Brad was the first member of the jury, it was a huge shocker.
First and foremost, it's a big deal since it means there will probably be ten people in the jury. For those of you who failed first grade math, that's an even number. How would they break the tie? Could you imagine a fire-making challenge LIVE during the reunion finale in L.A.? Needless to say, I'm extremely excited by that possibility. Talk about must-see-TV!
And secondly, Candice and Jonathan now have four people who are guaranteed to vote against them in the end. Unless they go head to head, it's an easy victory for whoever is sitting across from them in the final. Of course Candice is far to stupid to realize that Jonathan is her only chance and is actively trying to get him voted off... Typical.
3. Ozzy's Going to Make It! Maybe I shouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched, but it's highly likely that Ozzy will have kept my streak alive and be around at the merge. The mutiny nearly guarantees it, as now Sundra is the most likely casualty should the tribes not merge next week and Aitu lose the immunity challenge. He's at least made the jury, which would put me at 11 of 12 for my pick making it that far. (Boston Rob missed it by one in the Marquesas.) And assuming he's around at the merge, I'll be 12 for 12 there. He didn't end up being the disaster I originally thought, after all.
So as you can see, this episode will easily go down as one of the biggest in the Cook Islands. And with eleven remaining survivors and and some huge twists in store, it's going to be a fun ride to the final for sure!
