Is that Carmelo Anthony, or Carmela Anthony?

Can You Tell the Difference?

Ever since it's conception, the WNBA has been a complete mockery of professional basketball. The league continually fails to make a profit year after year and only manages to survive because it's tied to its big brother, the NBA. Now I understand that NBA commissioner David Stern has to do the politically correct thing and keep the league alive or risk an uproar from the WNBA's predominantly feminist fan base. But continuing to maintain the league at the status quo isn't doing anybody any good. After all, how does the WNBA's  promote the idea that women are equal when its games are practically unwatchable? That's why I've come up with two ways to improve the ladies game.

The biggest problem with the WNBA is that it's incredibly boring to watch. The closest the league comes to the NBA's high-flying antics is the occasional "dunk" that's really more of a glorified lay-up. So why not spice things up a bit and pull a real life "Juwana Man". Believe it or not, there's a handful of NBA stars who could pass for chicks. Sending them over to dominate in the floundering league might just turn things around.

The other option is to just merge the two leagues. Let the women put their money where their mouth is. If they really are equal, they should be able to hang with the boys. Force NBA teams to fill at least one roster spot with a woman. It wouldn't surprise me if stars Lisa Leslie or Diana Taurasi could hang with the big boys without completely embarrassing themselves.

Of course neither of those options will ever happen. Most people will probably think they're completely ridiculous. But before you cast judgment, take a moment to look at the photos below. I think you'll find that the difference between NBA and WNBA players might not be so large after all...

So how did you do?  My guess is that even if you nailed all seven, you still had to stop and think about it. And that, my friends, is the true beauty of the WNBA.
