Could a World Series victory be on the horizon for the Boston Red Sox?

For Orioles fans...This is the year!  It took us seven tries, but the Orioles finally finished in third place. For any Yankees or Red Sox fans out there, third place may seem a disappointing place to end up.  But for somebody that's suffered through six years of fourth, third's all right by me.  Believing that baby steps can eventually get this team back to its former glory, I set my goals small and aimed for the middle spot in the division.  And sure enough, the birds finally came through.  So "This Is The Year!" when things have finally started to turn around for a franchise that's spent too long in the cellar.  Yankees and Sox beware, if this team finally gets some pitching, it may be one of you guys sitting in third next year!

As for this being the year for Red Sox fans, read on...

Predictions:

ALDS:

Yankees over Twins

Red Sox over Angelss

NLDS:

Astros over Braves

Cardinals over Dodgers

ALCS:

Red Sox over Yankees

NLCS:

Astros over Cardinals

World Series:

Astros over Red Sox

The Sox losing the World Series to Roger Clemens.  I think this would probably kill ESPN.com Bill Simmons, and definitely his father, so I'm hesitant to predict such an apocalyptic ending.  However, I was nearly perfect with my post-season picks last year, missing only on the Yanks/Sox ALCS.  So chances are, this will be Astros/Yankees with Roger still tormenting a former team.

I decide to stick things out with the Baltimore Orioles.
As long as the Yankees don't walk away with the World Series, I'll be happy.

MLB Teams

My favorite team, and the one that brought the world Cal Ripken Jr.
Any team that's an arch-rival to the Yankees, is alright in my book.
The "other" baseball team from New York is a diamond in the rough.
The true "Evil Empire" is baseball's most corrosive force.
