Viva la Vida and long live Coldplay!
Many people felt that Coldplay's "X&Y" was somewhat of a sequel to their inital offering "Parachutes". Well if that's the case, their fourth album, "Viva La Vida", may just be the second-coming of the record that made them famous, "A Rush of Blood to the Head". According to Chris Martin, "Viva la Vida" was the band's attempt to break away from the falsetto-heavy tunes that had come to deine them and attempt to do something that showed off a broader scope of their musical ability. After listening to the album, it's still clearly a Coldplay product through and through, but there is that "Viva la Vida" revolutionary edge to the record that may end up marking it as a turning point for the band's history. Either way, Coldplay has managed to turn out an exceptional set of songs for the fourth time in a row. It's an incredible feat and a sign that we can expect huge things to come from a band who's greatness is only beginning.
