David Cook fakes out America by pretending to play the guitar.
Note: The following article is for entertainment purposes only. It consists of one fan's opinion and should not be considered "fact".
I've already spent far too much time on this anti-David Cook Campaign, so I'm going to try and make the remaining entries as short as possible. I'll quit the nit-picking and just focus on the really big points from here on out.
1. Notice how in the beginning of the performance it appears that David Cook is rocking out an awesome guitar riff. Then notice how the guitar riff continues to play when David stops strumming the guitar to lift his hand to the microphone. What exactly is David Cook playing then? The correct answer is "nothing". I honestly can't hear one bit of difference in the music when he's strumming or not strumming. This type of thing happened before and can be viewed in the "Word Nerd/Alright Now" clip, but it's never been quite as blatant as in this performance. Still, I'm sure almost nobody has picked up on this. Most people watching the show think "Man, David Cook is an amazing guitar player", when in reality, it's just another one of his props so he can look "cool" and throw picks into the crowd. I'm sure he can actually play the guitar and probably play it fairly well, but to get up there pretend to play when you're not is equally as phony as anything Milli Vanilli did. I really don't understand how this can be allowed to take place as it's clearly giving him an unfair advantage. Do you really think Chikezie would have finished in 10th place if he had pretended to rock out on the guitar?
2. After the performance, David once again tries to impress us by needlessly pointing out that he just learned to use the voice box today. Seriously, is he expecting a cookie or a gold star? It's a voice box! The way he's acting, you'd think he'd mastered the Mandarin language in one day.
3. Simon kills me!
"David, I don't think that was as good as you thought it was, actually."
I'm telling you, Simon and I are on the same page with this guy! He's incredibly talented and we acknowledge it, but he's also incredibly cocky and thus he irritates us to no end. Simon even called him "smug"! I love it!
4. After the critique, David Cook flails his arms and falls to the floor after Ryan Seacrest slightly bumps him. Could this be attention-seeking behavior from David Cook? Never!
